Course description

Pro-poor value chain development is a vital challenge in development cooperation. The pressures of globalization and liberalization are creating exclusive supply chains between preferred business partners, with dramatic effects on rural economies in developing countries. A targeted effort is needed to include smallholder producers and poorer households in integrated supply chains.

This course aims at improving rural people’s livelihoods through equitable value chain development. Practitioners and researchers learn innovative approaches to chain analysis, stakeholder analysis and monitoring and evaluation. Issues such as identifying potential value chains and designing chain development trajectories are also addressed. Participants will increase their knowledge of value chain analysis and enhance their operational skills.
