Health
The Health Area at KIT works to improve the health status of people in low and middle income countries by supporting the development of effective, equitable and sustainable health systems.
Important areas of work for the strengthening of health systems include human resource planning, performance management, health care financing and the economic analysis of health interventions. We also work to improve the synergy between health systems and priority programmes such as sexual and reproductive health, HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis. And we help to identify and prioritize health needs and find long-term solutions.
Effective collaboration depends on complementary approaches in which special attention is paid to the links between health, poverty and gender issues. We engage in multi-stakeholder participatory processes with research institutes, NGOs, multilateral organizations and national governments, and we adopt a flexible approach that is responsive to local needs and priorities.
