Health systems

The short courses and modules offered at KIT are an opportunity for professionals in health and development to further develop their knowledge and skills. The courses are practical, focused and complete in themselves, and most can also be taken as part of the Master in International Health (MIH) organized by KIT and other institutions in the tropEd network.

  • NEW: Analyzing Disrupted Health Systems

    Participants are equipped to analyse disrupted health systems in complex emergencies, and discuss humanitarian aid and politics, human rights, policies, strategies and plans of key actors
  • NEW: Health Systems Strengthening and HIV

    Key aspects of health system’s response to HIV epidemic. Reduction of stigma, using HIV program for strengthening health system, mechanisms for synergies, community systems strengthening.
  • NEW: Sexual and reproductive health and rights: Organizing effective responses

    How to improve access to equitable, quality sexual and Reproductive Health/ HIV and AIDS services with a focus on rights is analysed, while improving integration of services as well as voice and participation.
  • NEW: Advanced course on monitoring and evaluation: innovations in a dynamic health systems environment

    Aims to equip participants with up-to-date knowledge and state-of-the-art monitoring and evaluation tools. The changing role of information technology will be addressed and multi stakeholder environments will be examined.
  • Advanced course on health sector reforms and financing

    Developing critical analysis of the context and scope of current health sector reforms and financing options in developing countries.
  • Health policy and financing

    An in-depth look at important issues and current debates in health policy, health economics and health financing, taking into account the diverse profit and not for profit systems.
  • Human resources for Health

    Provides knowledge and skills that health care managers, policy makers and planners need for human resource management. It discusses strategies at country and workplace level to address health workforce issues.
  • Sexual and reproductive health including HIV/AIDS

    Development of critical analysis of relevant concepts related to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and HIV/AIDS and appraisal of key issues and interventions in the area of SRHR and HIV/AIDS.
  • Health systems research

    This course examines the strengths and weaknesses of different research approaches and methods and discusses which research methods should be used to answer certain health system research questions.
  • Governance and human resources for health

    Aims to enable participants to apply the concept of responsible governance to Human Resources for Health issues and to develop approaches for improving national and regional HRH policies and plans.
