ILS Training
KIT develops training material and organizes courses on a variety of subjects related to information management for development. Over time, the range of topics will continue to be expanded and adjusted to current needs. Existing training modules are of a generic nature and can be easily customized to meet the specific demands of particular clients and sponsors. Courses will be implemented in consultation with institutions in need.
Nowadays electronic cataloguing systems have been introduced in most libraries around the world. But still there are many cases where staff capacity for using these systems effectively and in accordance with current standards for bibliographic cataloguing is lacking. This is especially true for newly established or recently expanded libraries.

This course aims at creating capacity among researchers and students to use tools for reference management. The course can also be taken as a training-of-trainers by library staff involved in end-user training.
The course offers a balanced mix of practical exercises and theory. Subjects include search request analysis, search strategy, search tools, Internet sources, record keeping, and presentation of search results. Since the course comprises several sub-modules, it can easily be tailored to the client’s wishes and demands.

This course aims at creating capacity among library staff to organize and implement end-user training for information skills and information literacy.
