This course aims at creating capacity among library staff for building and maintaining a library catalogue in an electronic cataloguing system.

Nowadays electronic cataloguing systems have been introduced in most libraries around the world. But still there are many cases where staff capacity for using these systems effectively and in accordance with current standards for bibliographic cataloguing is lacking. This is especially true for newly established or recently expanded libraries.

This course is aimed at academic and research libraries in the global South. Course participants will be operational library staff and their supervisors. The course is not restricted to any particular cataloguing system, but will be adjusted to the system in use by the client.
