  • Gender and health

The dossier 'Gender and health' aims to provide insight into how gender roles and relations affect women’s health. Furthermore, it shows what is being undertaken to address women's, and men's, health needs and rights, and to promote equal access to health care.

  • Health-related stigma

The main aim of this dossier is to provide information on health-related stigma and its harmful consequences, including discrimination and social exclusion and to provide links to other resources on this topic. The dossier is a spin-off of the activities of the International Consortium for Research and Action Against health-related Stigma (ICRAAS).

Pregnant women in developing countries are a risk group which is threatened by malaria. This dossier focuses on the issues related to malaria in pregnancy, an often neglected topic.

  • Maternal health

This dossier serves as a background to the Maternal Health portal. The portal shares examples of practical projects and initiatives that have been undertaken with the explicit objective of contributing to the attainment of Millennium Development Goal 5. Another aim of the dossier is to file (scientific) documents that are relevant to all maternal health specialists, ranging from midwives to policy makers.

  • Realist inquiry

Public health interventions are complex interventions located within complex and open health and social systems. Realist inquiry can help unravel mechanisms of change in complex, open systems. It can help reveal how the interaction of an intervention with a specific context triggers reactions (mechanisms) which cause certain outcomes to occur.
