Royal Tropical Institute (KIT) plans to contribute to the improvement of laboratory services in low-income countries
KITs two research departments, Biomedical Research (BR) and Development Policy & Practice (DEV), wrote a concept note to unfold their findings and future plans.
Laboratory services fill an important role within the health system in low resource countries. KIT Biomedical Research has developed a Tiered quality system to help accredit laboratories in low-income countries. They have also designed a variety of training courses for laboratory managers as well as for other laboratory staff on how to maintain quality within the laboratory (and other related issues). KIT DEV, with their specific expertise on health systems and staffing, together with KIT BR investigated the position of laboratory staff in low-income countries and explored ways to improve the communication between the laboratory workers and the clinicians.
Read their findings and future plans in the concept note Boosting laboratory workers' contribution.
