Brucellosis is a serious bacterial infection that mostly affects people in developing countries. It is in this regard that KIT has developed a rapid test that allows for a diagnosis to be made relatively simply.

Drug against leprocy also works as a preventative medicine
The drug Rifampicin has been used for decades as part of the treatment for leprocy. Now it would appear that it is also a preventative agent against the disease. Just one dose can prevent people who regularly mix with leprocy patients from becoming contaminated.

Stress reaction in the tuberculosis bacteria
Tuberculosis bacteria are becomingly increasingly resistant to antibiotics. KIT is carrying out research into the reasons for this resistance. Stress appears to play a role.

Exchange is a quarterly magazine on HIV and AIDS from the perspective of gender, sexuality and sexual health. This issue pays particular attention to the links between harmful traditional practices and HIV. Articles on female genital mutilation, early marriage and widow inheritance are featured in this issue.
