News

KIT Royal Tropical Institute very much regrets to announce that Bart de Steenhuijsen Piters is leaving the organisation as per January 1st 2019. Bart has worked with KIT for 25 years in various positions, leading KIT’s department that provides research and advice on sustainable economic development and gender equity since 2014.

We are very grateful for Bart’s substantial contribution and career-long dedication to KIT’s mission of putting knowledge at the service of a more inclusive and sustainable world. His work as a system agronomist with more than 20 years of experience in rural development research and advisory in Africa and Southeast Asia has helped establish KIT’s worldwide reputation as a leading institute in this field.

As member of the Management Team, directing several departments since 2000, Bart has had a leading role in the development of KIT from a largely subsidised organisation into an independent centre of expertise and education dedicated tot the Sustainable Development Goals.

Bart has been an inspirator for many of us at KIT Royal Tropical Institute and far beyond. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.
