Ebola, KIT and capacity building
KIT is working on improving health systems around the world every day.
We prepare Dutch doctors going to the tropics and “tropical” health workers train at KIT for their Master of Public Health degree.
The recent ebola outbreak is an example of the continuing need to invest in health care systems around the world. However, this crisis also became personal. Several of our Dutch graduates left Sierra Leone due to the danger of having contracted the virus.
Meanwhile our recent international graduates just returned home to fight ebola in their home countries. Like five fresh graduates of KIT from Liberia. Last week they returned home. These graduates studied at KIT for one year and returned to their respective jobs in disease surveillance, environmental health, social mobilization and malaria control.
