News

Welcome to KIT Royal Tropical Institute!

Yesterday the opening ceremony for the master’s in International Health and master’s of Public Health took place in our beautiful historical building, marking the moment when a diverse group of 88 health professionals from 30 countries officially started their studies at KIT.

Lakshmi Krishnan from India, course participant from India, said, “Here, in this journey of a year we hope to understand how we contextualise health interventions to work best for our health systems back home. We hope to learn how to use specific tools, methods, and techniques to scale these health interventions for making a difference in our chosen area of public health. When we go back or wherever our paths may lead us to, we would look forward to applying our knowledge gained here at KIT in implementing interventions that create an impact, a tangible impact.

Veronica Martinez, course participant from the United States of America said: ”I hope this coming year is filled with wonderful cultural exchanges of ideas and sharing of experiences that will help us grow more as individuals and also in our focus areas of public health. I expect that the MPH program will afford the opportunity for us to develop our talents and use our newly found skills to continue transforming our respective communities and have a positive impact on those we serve. May this journey be filled with insight, knowledge, and joyful memories that will leave an indelible impression on all our lives.

We wish all of our students the very best during what will be an intensive year of sharing experiences and learning new skills, all of which will help you to improve health in your home countries and across the world.

Thanks to the OrangeKnowledge Programme, and the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, KIT Scholarship Fund and its donors, Joint Japan/World Bank scholarship programme, Nuffic Global Development and all the other organisations whose support makes this possible.

KIT Scholarship Fund

This year a 8 health professionals started their master’s degree programme at KIT with a scholarship from the KIT Scholarship Fund.

Asma from Yemen, Nelea from Tanzania, Dorcas from Ghana, Salome from Ghana, Yusuf from Indonesia, Dayib from Kenya, Anna Kathrina from the Philipines and Oluwaseun from Nigeria are all studying for their master’s degree at KIT. What they all have in common is their engagement and commitment towards improving health and health care in their home countries and around the world.

Through the KIT Scholarship Fund, we raise money to help talented health professionals from low-income countries to study for a master’s degree in Public or International health at KIT. With their new knowledge and skills, they can play an important role in improving the health situation in their home country – something that is needed now more than ever. So supporting one student can have an impact on the lives of many more.

We are grateful to our donors who made this possible! Read more information about the new scholarship-fund students on our website.
