Background
Peer Educator

My name is Fadzai Macyln Taderera, and I am from Zimbabwe. I have a background in development studies and project management, monitoring and evaluation. After graduating from college, I volunteered as a peer educator in one of Zimbabwe’s remote villages, and that’s when my passion for SRH (Sexual Reproductive Health) and HIV/AIDS was born.

Challenges in a Low-Income Country

Zimbabwe is a low-income country which is heavily burdened by HIV/AIDS, and its prevalence rate is the fifth highest in the World. Working in the health sector, I have discovered that young women and adolescents have the highest prevalence rate and have the least information and access to SRH services; hence, they will continue to be disproportionately affected by HIV/AIDS.

Advocating for Equity and Impact

Armed with a Master in International Health, I believe I will be better equipped to lobby and advocate for the Zimbabwean government and develop adequate responses to HIV/AIDS.

I will actively raise awareness and push for legislation creating safer spaces for young women and adolescents, increasing their access to reproductive healthcare services.

My aim is to address social, economic, political, and policy barriers impacting health delivery.
