Background
Physician
Hello, my name is Versha Kumari, and I am a physician from Pakistan. I am pursuing this Master’s because I am driven by a vision to improve health outcomes for underserved populations in Pakistan.

Health inequities in rural Pakistan

When I worked as a General Practitioner in rural Pakistan, I experienced the stark realities of healthcare in resource-constrained settings. I treated patients affected by floods, disease outbreaks, and a lack of basic facilities. This showed me the critical need for a broader, preventive approach to healthcare.
I not only provided clinical care but also organized health camps, distributed medicines, and educated communities on hygiene, water sanitation, and disease prevention. This work ignited my interest in addressing health inequities at a structural level.

Envisioning a world where everyone has equitable access to quality healthcare

The challenges I faced fueled my desire to deepen my knowledge and skills, ultimately leading me to pursue this Master’s program, which aligns with my commitment to improving healthcare access for underserved communities. The change I envision is a world where everyone, regardless of their socio-economic status or geographical location, has equitable access to quality healthcare. In Pakistan, particularly in rural areas, health disparities remain a pressing issue.
