KIT Fund: Scholarship 2025-2026

Thanks to donations from foundations, companies and individual donors this year, KIT Fund offers a limited number of scholarships to those who will start their Master in Public Health and Health Equity at KIT in September 2025. These scholarships are available to talented health professionals from low- and middle-income countries who aim to improve the health systems they work in, and therefore come to study a Master’s programme at KIT Royal Tropical Institute.

Your profile

The scholarship is only open to candidates who have been accepted to KIT’s  Master of Science in Public Health and Health Equity 2025-2026 and who come from a low- or middle income country and meet the general eligibility criteria of KIT Fund, as written below or in the Rules & Regulations KIT Fund.

In addition, we would like to encourage the application of:

  • Candidates from countries ranking high on the fragile state index.
  • Candidates from Indonesia.
  • Candidates with a strong interest or professional background in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR)

What does the Scholarship cover?

  • The KIT Fund scholarship fully covers the tuition fee for MPH-HE to study at KIT in the 2025-2026 academic year.
  • Other costs covered are the flights from your home country to Amsterdam and back, monthly living allowance, accommodation, visa costs and health insurance (as indicated in the financial statement applicants received with their admission).
  • Any other costs are the responsibility of the applicant.

Eligibility Criteria 

A candidate applying for a KIT Fund Scholarship should meet the following criteria:

Application Procedure

  1. Obtain academic admission. Apply and gain admission to the2025-2026 Master of Public Health and Health Equity programme. Only applicants who have been accepted are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
  2. Upload required documents. After you have been admitted to the master’s programme, upload the required documents in your existing file to the KIT Online Application System under “Other documents.”  PLEASE NOTE: If you experience problems with uploading in the online application system, then please try a few times. If issues persist, please send an e-mail with your documents to courses@kit.nl.
  3. Apply by filling in the application form below. Only do so after you finish step 2. After uploading the documents and submitting the form, your application is complete. The deadline for submitting your documents and filling out the form is 4th of May 2025, 12h (noon) CET, at the latest.
  4. Review process. Complete applications will be reviewed in the first half of May 2025.
  5. Interviews: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview via Zoom during the week of 12th-17th of May 2025.
  6. A final selection of candidates is made in the last week of May 2025.
  7. The selected applicant must agree to the KIT Fund’s Rules and Regulations and obligations for this scholarship within 8 days of being informed they were selected. Failure to do so will result in the scholarship being offered to the next candidate on the reserve list. 

Required Documentation

  1. A motivation letter for KIT Fund.  This letter should contain: Why you are applying to the KIT Fund? How do you plan to use the skills acquired to the advantage of the public case? Upload your letter in your file in KIT online application system with clear title: ‘Your name, Motivation KIT Fund 2025-2026’. Please note: this should be a different letter than the motivation letter you uploaded for the application to the programme. 
  1. A 500–700 words essay. The essay should describe a public health problem that you have experienced in the last two years that you would like to discuss in your thesis or address in the course. Explain how this problem has consequences for the community and the health system. Upload your essay in your file in the KIT online application system with clear title: ‘Your name, Essay KIT Fund 2025-2026’ 
  1. Your updated CV with contact information: e-mail, telephone numbers you can be easily reached on. Upload this too.
