- Public Health Professional
My name is Lydia Nyimba, and I come from Malawi. I graduated with a Public Health (Honours) degree from South Africa. I have worked as a health promoter and researcher, focusing on sexual reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, gender equality, and youth participation.
Dedication to Improving Public Health in Malawi
From my time working in the field, I have had the opportunity to observe first-hand the poor health conditions in Malawi’s rural communities, which predispose the populace to diseases like HIV/AIDS, malaria, cholera, and other communicable diseases. Additionally, I have witnessed how a lack of health information has resulted in a lack of public awareness and bad health consequences.
Empowering People Through Public Health
I consider public health the most important field in medicine.
The Master’s in Public Health program at KIT will equip me with the knowledge and skills required to reach this goal and contribute greatly to the achievement of sustainable development goal 3 – Good Health and Well-being for All.
