Global Health Education at KIT in times of Coronavirus

The world has changed drastically in recent months. The coronavirus pandemic has made us acutely aware that we are all connected and that strong health systems are of utmost importance to all.

KIT Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam is usually home to a vibrant international community, working, teaching and sharing knowledge about different public and global health issues. But at the moment daily life at KIT has completely changed. The building, normally buzzing with activities and classes, is now empty and quiet. There are no longer any classes nor students from all over the world but…this does not mean that all of this learning and interaction has stopped.

Distance learning

Dealing with the changed circumstances we adapted our current and upcoming courses to e-learning courses. Thanks to the power of modern technology, our courses can be followed safely from home. Through different online platforms lectures, discussions, group work and exchanging experiences are still taking place.

We hope that normal classes will again be possible in the (very) near future. But in the coming months, all our planned courses will be delivered via distance learning. For the upcoming courses, this means travel and visas are no longer needed, and application deadlines are extended. So if you are at home and would you like to follow one of the courses listed below via distance learning, you can still apply.

KIT is closely adhering to the regulations from the Dutch authorities, the Dutch National Institute for Public Health (RIVM) and the World Health Organisation (WHO). We plan to re-evaluate our planning for summer and fall courses at a later date.
