Helpdesk and framework services on health and SRHR for Sida

Sida and KIT Royal Tropical Institute have entered into a framework agreement to provide Sida and Swedish embassy staff with various advisory services on Health and SRHR (see examples of assignments below). With its team of over 40 health experts, KIT Royal Tropical Institute can assist on various themes related to health systems and services, SRHR, health equity, the global health agenda and other public health topics related to Swedish development cooperation and humanitarian aid.

KIT Royal Tropical Institute can provide advice and strategic guidance on global health and SRHR at policy, programme and project level. This also includes support on capacity building, development of tools and methods, policy briefs, background papers and dialogue on Health and SRHR topics.

Services offered by KIT Royal Tropical Institute are split into:
1. Helpdesk services, for query responses to be delivered within 3 working days.
2. Framework services, for more complex queries requiring 3 or more working days.

Procedure

All Sida and Embassy staff are welcome to request Helpdesk services. The costs are covered by Sida’s Global Programme and the services therefore do not require any formal decision or additional funds.

If you have questions before submitting your request, send a mail to sida@kit.nl. If needed we can organise a Skype call.

Requested services should not require more than 3  days of work. For longer assignments (more than 3 days) the  framework services on Health and SRHR should be used (see next tab on this page).

Examples of Helpdesk Services:

  • Projects and programs: Expert advice on Health and SRHR issues in preparation, implementation, monitoring and reporting on programmes and projects; e.g. formulating ToRs and identification of results indicators.
  • Country, regional and thematic strategies: Expert advice on Health and SRHR dimensions in development, implementation and follow-up of strategy processes, including brief country analyses related to strategy processes, national health strategies, policies and plans and thematic strategies.
  • Thematic analyses: In-depth studies and analytical reports, thematic background documents, discussion papers, synthesizing lessons as background material to e.g. policy & strategy processes, and thematic knowledge development within Sida.
  • Methodology development: Expert input to support development of methods, guidance and tools for Health and SRHR issues in Sida’s work.
  • Capacity development: Expert input in support of capacity development and training on Health and SRHR (at HQ and in partner countries), including development of training materials, organisation of seminars and workshops, and input to strategic advice to persons in management positions and coaching of groups or individual Sida staff.
  • Information material: Development of information materials on Global Health and SRHR issues relevant to Sida’s general work and to specific development themes, sectors or geographic regions (e g policy briefs).
  • Dialogue support: Support to Sida/Embassies to facilitate inclusion of Health and SRHR in development, implementation and monitoring of strategies, programs, or projects; and support to dialogues with partners to enhance Health and SRHR in Sida-financed contributions.
  • International processes: Expert inputs supporting Sida in global, regional or country level selected key dialogue and negotiations.

Procedure

All Sida and Embassy staff are welcome to commission framework services within the framework agreement. The funding should come from the Sida unit or embassy. A clear Terms of Reference (ToR) is needed to specify the assignment including the deliverables, deadlines, available budget and other expectations).

If you would like to commission an assignment, please send email including a ToR to sida@kit.nl. If needed we can organise a Skype call to help you specify your need.

For services requiring less than 3 days of work you can use Sida’s Helpdesk on Health and SRHR (see first tab on this page).

Examples of Framework Services

  • Projects and programmess: Expert advice on Global Health and SRHR issues regarding design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, reporting for programmes and projects; e.g. formulating ToRs and identification of results indicators.
  • Country, regional and thematic strategies: Expert advice on Global Health and SRHR dimensions in development, implementation and follow-up of strategy processes, including brief country analyses related to strategy processes, national health strategies, policies and plans (NHPSP), thematic and key sector strategies.

  • Methodology support: Expert input to support development of methods, guidance and tools for Global Health and SRHR issues in Sida’s work. Processing of data on global health and provide quantitative and qualitative analysis. Outcome assessments. Advice on monitoring and evaluation of programmes.
  • Capacity development: Expert input in support of capacity development and training on Global Health and SRHR (at HQ and in partner countries), including development of training materials, organisation of seminars, workshops and training. Strategic advice for people in management positions and coaching of groups or individual Sida staff.
  • Information materials: Development of information materials on Global Health and SRHR issues relevant to Sida’s general work and to specific development themes, sectors or geographic regions (e g policy briefs, short reports).
  • Dialogue support: support to Sida/Embassies to facilitate inclusion of Health and SRHR in development, implementation and monitoring of strategies, programs, or projects; and support to dialogues with partners to enhance Health and SRHR in Sida-financed contributions.
  • International processes: KIT Royal Tropical Institute experts that represent Sida during in global, regional or country level missions where key dialogues and negotiations take place.
