In loving memory of Felani Tembo

News

It is with shock and deep sorrow that we share the news that our student Felani Tembo from Zambia passed away suddenly on Friday, 17 June 2022, in Geneva, where she and her fellow students were on a one-week study tour.

Felani was a Nuffic Orange Knowledge Programme scholar and was studying for a Master’s in Public Health programme at KIT. Felani held a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Zambia School of Medicine. She was a Principal tutor at Chipata School of Nursing and prior to that, she taught at Mwami School of Nursing.

Felani applied for the master’s programme at KIT with the ambition of being trained in public health. She wanted to use this knowledge to train her fellow lecturers and students at Chipata college so that they could work towards improved health services for people and communities across the country.

Felani is survived by her husband and son, who are in Zambia awaiting her repatriation. All of us send our condolences to Felani’s husband, son, and family, and we are doing what we can to support them in this most difficult time.

Felani was loved by her classmates and well respected by her teachers and advisors. She will forever live on in our memories and our hearts. We will miss her dearly.

May her soul rest in peace.

For those who would like to convey your condolences, we have made the email address condolences@kit.nl available. Please use this to send your memories, messages and anything else you would like to share. We will make sure that your message is shared with Felani’s family.
