Sexual and reproductive health and rights

Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) are cornerstones of every person’s quality of life. Since the International Conference on Population and Development in 1994 and the various United Nations (UN) conferences on HIV and AIDS in the years after, much progress has been made in advancing attention for SRHR, including HIV, both at the global and country-level. However, many people in low- and middle-income countries are still faced with limited access to sexual and reproductive health knowledge and services that are responsive to their needs and expectations.

KIT has built a solid reputation for its expertise and work at the crossroads of sexual health, reproductive health and HIV.

KIT’s work on SRHR supports organisations and governments to realise better and inclusive access to quality SRH services. Our main activities include promoting adolescent SRHR, reducing teenage pregnancy, improving maternal health and strengthening HIV prevention and care, especially for key populations.

Our methods are always adapted to local contexts and respond to the priorities defined by the stakeholders and partners we work with. To achieve meaningful change, we recognise the importance of anchoring our approach in a foundation of rights, participation and gender equality and we use demand-driven, tailor-made and often novel approaches.

Improving sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) continues to be high on the global public health agenda. This course builds on current evidence to critically identify and analyse responses across health systems and communities in various settings. What are the key issues in the good governance of comprehensive sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR)? How can one negotiate the complex political and financial terrain when developing policies and strategic plans?
