The Dutch Global Health Film Festival aims to bring people together around issues in global health through film and dialogue. Taking place in five cities across The Netherlands, the festival will present hard-hitting films which speak to some of today’s pressing Global Health challenges.

The Amsterdam event will take place on Saturday the 8th of February 2020, between 16:00 and 22:00 at KIT Royal Tropical Institute.

El Susto

Mexico’s Number One Killer is not cartels. It’s Type 2 Diabetes. El Susto (The Shock) tells the story of how courageous public health activists in Mexico stirred a giant, the powerful beverage industry, aka “Big Soda”, when they took action to curb sugary drink consumption, with sobering and inspiring lessons for the rest of the world.

Neighbors

An observational documentary about people with mental illness who are leaving their institution after decades spent in isolation, and once they get out, trying to put their shattered lives back together.

Each film will be preceded by a short movie and followed by a panel discussion with experts on the topic.

Tickets are available for individual movies or for the entire evening. If you would like to attend the whole programme, there is also an option to include dinner, which will be served between the second and third movie.
