Feminist Edge Welcomes Seventh International Cohort of Gender Trainers

On February 9th, Feminist Edge – a professional development programme for gender trainers run by KIT and UN Women Training Center – launched this year’s first module. We are delighted to welcome this seventh cohort of participants into our global community of gender trainers – now comprising over 175 alumni.

Feminist Edge offers professional development for gender trainers that re-captures and re-imagines gender training as a feminist project, establishing a new approach to training for gender equality. In the face of global political shifts underpinned by a discursive and regulatory backlash against progress on gender equality, the need to reclaim autonomous spaces for feminist knowledge production is more pertinent now than ever.

This year’s participants come from countries including Kenya, Pakistan, Yemen and Colombia, with professional experience spanning sexual and reproductive health and rights, humanitarian assistance, food systems and agribusiness. This first Module explores the theoretical foundations of feminist theory, epistemology and methodologies, deepening understanding of gender and its relationship to development. Feminist Edge runs until August, when participants will come together in person for the final module, hosted at KIT Institute in Amsterdam.
