ISSD Africa Publishes New Framework Linking Seed Governance and Peace in FCAS

We’re pleased to present the publication of ISSD Africa’s new conceptual framework that brings fresh clarity to how seed governance can support peace in Fragile and Conflict-Affected Situations (FCAS) across the continent.

Developed under the Governance and Peace Action Learning Project (ALP4), co-led by Wageningen University & Research (WUR) and KIT Institute, this framework gives Humanitarian, Development, and Peace (HDP) actors a shared language and practical lens for working together in complex seed system environments.

This conceptual framework, the result of a co-creation workshop earlier this year in Entebbe, Uganda, offers conceptual clarity in showing how stronger, more inclusive seed governance can contribute to peace in FCAS. The framework is meant to serve as a guidance for researchers, programmers and policymakers to understand how seed system interventions can be more conflict-sensitive and build greater resilience.

The publication has been authored by Oliver Callaghan and Abishkar Subedi (Wageningen Social & Economic Research – WSER), Eelco Jacobs (KIT Institute), and Dandena Gelmesa (Ethiopia Seed Partnership – ESP, Stichting Wageningen Research Ethiopia – SWRE), with contributions from partners across the ISSD Africa network.

This World TB Day, we’re reminded that ending TB is possible — even as climate-related disasters make it increasingly difficult. Last year, our global health teams interviewed 10 TB programme implementers from Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines, Zambia, and Zimbabwe about how climate-related disasters affect TB services — and how geospatial tools can […]
