KIT Institute Advisors Win Award for Sexuality Education Research at WAS2025

KIT Institute Advisors have received international recognition at the 2025 World Congress of the World Association for Sexual Health (WAS), held in Brisbane, Australia, from 16–19 June.

KIT Institute was honoured with a prestigious WAS Award in the category Education, highlighting its contributions to advancing sexuality education in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

The UNESCO commissioned- study ‘Adolescent and youth perceptions on sexuality education in LMICs’ is authored by KIT Institute Advisors Marielle Le Mat, Hannah Kabelka, Chantale Al Lakis, Yasmine El Addouli and Maryse Kok, and was presented at the conference by UNESCO’s Programme Specialist Kathleen Chau. The work combines a global online survey and five country case studies on needs, experiences, and preferences of adolescents and young people in relation to school-based sexuality education. The study adopted a unique methodological approach by involving young researchers as co-researchers throughout the study.

In recognition of the special contributions that researchers, teachers and educators make in the fields of education, health, policy and sexology, WAS offers a prestigious award at each WAS Congress. The World Association for Sexual Health is an international umbrella organisation representing sexological societies and sexologists worldwide that aims to promote sexual health for all through science.

This World TB Day, we’re reminded that ending TB is possible — even as climate-related disasters make it increasingly difficult. Last year, our global health teams interviewed 10 TB programme implementers from Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines, Zambia, and Zimbabwe about how climate-related disasters affect TB services — and how geospatial tools can […]
