New Blog: How can Seed Governance Support Peacebuilding?
A newly published blog by Oliver Callaghan, Abishkar Subedi from Wageningen University and Research and KIT Institute’s senior advisor Eelco Jacobs, explores the question: can seed governance contribute to peace in fragile and conflict-affected contexts?
Written in the context of Action Learning Process 4 (ALP-4) as part of the ISSD Africa programme, the blog unpacks what the Humanitarian–Development–Peace (HDP) Nexus means in practice for seed systems—and how it can be operationalised on the ground.
While the link between seed governance and peace remains underexplored in both academic and grey literature, early insights from a literature review and a recent workshop in Uganda suggest that seed governance—if inclusive, transparent and locally grounded—can play a role in strengthening food security, social cohesion, and community resilience.
The process now moves into a series of case studies and HDP-Nexus mapping exercises across four countries.
