Scholarships Orange Knowledge Programme
Upcoming application period: Winter 2023 for courses Summer 2023 and Winter 2024
The Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP), funded by The Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs and managed by Nuffic aims to advance the capacity, knowledge and quality of both individuals and institutions of higher and vocational education. The programme recently has been extended until end 2024. There are however quite a few changes in the eligible countries, and there are changed application periods. Talented health professionals from 30 eligible OKP countries can apply for a full scholarship to study a Master programme or short course at KIT. Please note that the countrylist has changed just recently.
List courses OKP application period 1: winter 2023:
For the following programmes there are scholarships available from the Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP). Follow the links below for more information on each course and apply directly to your course of choice through our online application system. You have to apply separately for the OKP scholarship and will automatically receive a link for this after academic admission.
- Master of Public Health/International Course in Health Development
Course dates: 12 September 2022 – 1 September 2023
This annual 12-month programme is organised by KIT Royal Tropical Institute and the VU Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Participants can choose from the following study tracks:
- Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) in a dynamic health environment
Course dates: 14 – 25 August 2023 - Suivi et Evaluation de la Sante dans un contexte dynamique (M&E course in French)
Course dates: 14 – 25 August 2023 - Analysing Disrupted Health Systems in Countries in Crisis
Course dates: 14 – 25 August 2023 - (E-learning) Rebuilding Disrupted Health Systems – developing context-specific strategies for health care policies, implementation and governance
Course dates: 25 September – 15 December 2023 - Qualitative Methods in Health Systems Research (used to be later application period)
Course dates: 18 January – 7 February 2024
Application period Orange Knowledge Programme Scholarship
If you want to apply for a scholarship from the Orange Knowledge Programme, make sure you first apply for academic admission to KIT.
- Deadline KIT Royal Tropical Institute for academic admission (if applying for OKP): as soon as possible but at the latest by 28 February 2023. Please note that you need to submit English proficiency test results. Therefore we advise you to start your application process as soon as possible if you are interested.
- Registration period OKP: 8 February – 30 March 2023 16:00 CET
Eligible countries for Orange Knowledge Scholarship:
Attention: the list of eligible countries for OKP has changed. The list has been reduced to 30 countries: Bangladesh, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Colombia, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Kenya, Lebanon, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Palestinian Territories, Rwanda, Senegal, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Vietnam, Yemen.
Health professionals from the following countries are especially encouraged to apply, as the Netherlands’ embassies in these countries have a focus on Health or SRHR, making the chances of receiving an OKP scholarship higher: Bangladesh, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Congo DRC, Ethiopia, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Philippines, Senegal, Tanzania, Yemen

In case you are interested please apply as soon as possible for academic admission so you are ready to apply for the OKP scholarship when the application period opens!
Attention: Changes other Orange Knowledge Application periods 2023
For 2023 there are only two application rounds instead of three as was the case in previous years. This means in practice that for all short courses taking place in 2024 the OKP application period is already 28 June- 5 September 2023, 16:00 CET. The academic application deadline if you want to apply for OKP is already 1 June 2023.
Therefore we advise you to apply as soon as possible to the short course of your choice.

MENA MSP Scholarship
We are happy the inform you that the MENA MSP Scholarship, funded by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs and managed by Nuffic, is now available for the following KIT courses:

Eligible Countries: There are MENA MSP scholarships available for for people living and working in the following countries: Algeria, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Tunisia, Sudan, Mauritania.
Syria: Syrians can apply for a scholarship if they are living and working in one of the other countries listed above.
Application period MENA MSP Scholarship: 8 February – 30 March 2023, 16:00 CET
Academic application deadline: First apply for academic admission to KIT. Deadline 28 February 2023
Details on the MSP scholarship and different criteria per country. Please visit the Nuffic website and click on your country to find all details per country. Here you will also find instructions on extra forms you have to prepare. We advise you to start up this process already as it may take some time.
(Please note that KIT courses are not yet added to the Nuffic website for MSP scholarship).
The application process for the scholarship is the same as for the OKP scholarship. You have to apply for academic admission to KIT first, if you are admitted you will receive a link to a link to Delta, the online system, where you can apply. You will receive the link once the application period opens, after 8 February 2023.
