Supporting Healthcare Resilience in Syria

At this historic moment, KIT Institute would like to mark its solidarity with the Syrian people, who have endured so much, yet have shown immense resilience in the face of conflict and crisis. This historic occasion, filled with hope yet also uncertainty for the future, underscores the continued importance of strengthening essential systems, institutions and services to support communities in need.

KIT Institute remains committed to supporting the resilience of the Syrian people and to strengthening its healthcare system during this important period of transition. We hope for an inclusive and peaceful political settlement that respects the rights of all Syrians and lays the foundation for comprehensive strengthening of its essential services and the economy.

Over the years, KIT Institute has been honoured to work closely with the Syrian people, contributing to the resilience of its health system by supporting evidence-informed decisionmaking and programming in the health sector. We have served as the Third Party for Monitoring the performance of health services in Northwest Syria, providing the analysis needed to improve healthcare in a situation of protracted crisis.

In partnership with Syrian civil society organisations and development partners we have also provided insights into the distribution, retention and management of health workers in Northern Syria, so that hospitals and clinics are ultimately better able to respond to health needs on the ground.

We look forward to continuing our engagement with the Syrian people, and collaboration with our partners and stakeholders for evidence-informed decisionmaking in the health sector.

This World TB Day, we’re reminded that ending TB is possible — even as climate-related disasters make it increasingly difficult. Last year, our global health teams interviewed 10 TB programme implementers from Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines, Zambia, and Zimbabwe about how climate-related disasters affect TB services — and how geospatial tools can […]
