The 14th World Congress of Gynecology and Obstetrics
KIT and Share-Net Netherlands at #FIGO2023
The FIGO World Congress is the leading and largest global event in gynaecology and obstetrics. This October, from the 9th to the 12th, three of our colleagues will join more than 8,000 delegates who will gather at the Paris Convention Centre to learn, share, build alliances, and shape the future of women’s and reproductive health.
As the conversations around abortion grow increasingly polarising and the safe spaces to talk about them shrink, the role of the spaces that are available to advocate for safe abortion has become even more crucial to this movement.
Our Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) advisors make the most of the opportunities available to use knowledge and evidence to strengthen advocacy for safe abortion and contribute to building an unstoppable movement.
And this year our advisors Irene de Vries, Jamilah Sherally and Nicole Moran from Share-net Netherlands will be in Paris, where and Irene and Jamilah will share insights from their work.
“The role of healthcare providers is key in building the movement for safe abortion. Join us to learn how to further strengthen their role,” invites Irene, who will share lessons on our ‘Advocacy for safe abortion’ project.
And in her poster presentation, Jamilah will talk about the factors influencing access to sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services for refugees residing in formal camps and informal settlements in the WHO (World Health Organisation) European region, so that SRH responses can subsequently be strengthened.
“Despite recognition as a human right, significant inequities in the delivery of sexual and reproductive health still exist, with global gaps in access to services prevailing amongst the most marginalised,” explains Jamilah.
You can find more information below on their presentation below.
