Vice Versa reports on the Power of Knowledge conference
Knowledge is power and, for now, knowledge is dominated by the richest countries. Thus Dutch magazine Vice Versa writes in its report on the Power of Knowledge conference; Kennis dekoloniseren is pijnlijk en nodig (Decolonising knowledge is painful and necessary).
The annual Power of Knowledge conference is the latest initiative to bring together professionals concerned with equity in knowledge production. Not only in Amsterdam, but also in Beirut (Lebanon) and Johannesburg (South Africa), the plenary sessions were followed live and lectures and workshops were held.
“Decolonising knowledge revolves around three questions: who has access to the knowledge, who sets the agenda and who validates the knowledge?” said Lindy van Vliet, KIT’s knowledge director, at the conference.
