This panel is dedicated to setting the scene and how Global Health Initiatives i.e. Gavi and The Global Fund work beyond getting vaccines to beneficiaries, but also work with governments, civil society, and business. This panel will highlight the strongly synergistic benefits to the Netherlands (economic/trade/health security and innovation ecosystem) and provide the context for the thematic topics of the day.

This session explores the significant demonstrable economic returns for the Dutch private sector and wider economy resulting from investments in strengthening health systems and combating vaccine-preventable diseases in Gavi and Global Fund-supported countries, highlighting the impact of disease reduction on business operations, workforce productivity, and broader economic growth.

This session will explore innovative financing mechanisms in global health such as Gavi’s International Finance Facility for Immunization (IFFIm) and The Global Fund’s Debt2Health’s approach to co-financing ie. domestic health financing showcasing their effectiveness in strengthening health systems, reinforcing national health budget lines, and promoting country ownership.

The session will address emerging global health concerns, including AMR and the impact of the climate crisis in exacerbating diseases, emphasising international cooperation and shared responsibility. This session will reflect on the key takeaways from the day and will close with reflections shared from a ONE youth ambassador.
