KIT Royal Tropical Institute was part of an international group of academics and practitioners that developed a tool to help value chain practitioners assess the impact of their work. The tool was tested in Tanzania and generated a number of case studies which were used for a manual that was  published.

A simple, flexible and robust tool

Value chain development initiatives are extremely complex. They deal with multiple – often conflicting – interests while operating in a quickly changing commercial environment.

With its specialist partners KIT’s simple, flexible and robust tool allows value chain practitioners to assess value at every step of the chain. KIT helped in developing the tool and tested it in Tanzania.

The tool, now published in a manual, is available to help practitioners assess the impact of their initiatives, and the included case studies demonstrate how value chain impact assessments can be practically applied.
