As the gender partner of the World Cocoa Foundation (WCF), KIT is working on gender mainstreaming the WCF’s cocoa livelihood programme (CLP) in West Africa, while supporting cocoa industry and technical partners to improve their outreach to female cocoa farmers.
A combination of capacity building, data analysis and research have led to recommendations on how to integrate gender into phase 2 of the CLP.
Current development and results
Currently a tool box has been developed with and for industry partners to support them in identifying, piloting and upscaling gender strategies that fit their industry profile and sustainability objectives.
The work not only delivers recommendations, it also builds capacity within organisations to identify opportunities to improve gender equity with the development benefits that entails.
