The Break Free! (BF!) Programme aims to strengthen young people’s sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and promote gender equality in nine African countries and is funded by and implemented in partnership with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the Strengthening Civil Society for SRHR partnership fund for the period from January 2021 to 2025. In Kenya, BF! is led by Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) and jointly implemented with Plan International and Malkia Initiative. KIT Institute is one of the technical partners of this consortium, engaging in research activities to inform the alliance’s lobby, advocacy, and implementation activities. While the programme is implemented in four counties (Nairobi, Tharaka-Nithi, Tana River and Kajiado), this study focuses exclusively on study sites in Nairobi and Tharaka-Nithi.
