Susan Huider works as Course Administration Officer. Before she started at KIT Royal Tropical Institute Susan used to work for young, starting companies and the challenge and creativity of pioneering has resulted that she has gained a lot of experience in organising and setting up structures and systems.
Clear and open communication, adaptability, creativity, enthusiasm and a service providing attitude are skills that are very useful in her current job at KIT. She likes the combination of administrative activities and the social and cultural aspect of her function as Course Administration Officer. Her work at KIT brings her in contact with people from all over the world and social skills are important. Because it is an international study, communication is primarily in English.
Susan supports KIT course coordinators in the daily management of the Netherlands Course on Global Health and Tropical Medicine (NTC) and the Master in International Health (MIH). As Course Administration Officer she takes care of all administrative and practical processes of the NTC and MIH courses and she ensures that the organisation of the courses runs smoothly. She is first point of contact for KIT staff, facilitators (teachers) and students and gives information about the courses (from application until graduation ceremony), scholarships, visa application, housing, student activities, planning of the course schedule, etc. She works closely with the course coordinators and the tutor of the courses. During absence of her direct colleagues (fellow administration officers) she replaces them and takes care of the daily business of the other courses that are running at that time.
