What we do

Leaders in international health

For 50 years KIT has educated doctors, nurses and other health professionals from around the world to become leaders and experts in international health. We do this by providing training in the field of international and public health. Students from all over the world follow Masters programmes or short courses at KIT and afterwards often make a substantial difference in the health care situation in their country.

Alumni of KIT often occupy higher positions after their studies and can therefore contribute to health policy at the district, regional and even at national level. Often they pass on their knowledge to local health professionals by teaching at universities and local training institutes.

Khalid Sharifi, doctor from Afghanistan, followed the Master in Public Health in 2010. He now works as Managing Director for the Afghan NGO Social and Health Development Program (SHDP). He contributes to policy in HIV AIDS and also teaches Afghan doctors. “With the knowledge I have learned from KIT I now contribute to the strengthening of health in Afghanistan.”

The KIT Scholarship Fund

Most students of KIT study in the Netherlands with a scholarship. However due to a fall in available scholarships fewer students have this opportunity. We are convinced that investing in future leaders and experts in health care helps to improve international health. Therefore the KIT Scholarship Fund was established. The financial support is given to one student but is of benefit to entire communities.
