Call for nominations: Christiaan Eijkman Medal 2026

The Eijkman Medal Foundation invites nominations for the Christiaan Eijkman Medal 2026, to be awarded to a female scientist in recognition of outstanding contributions to Global Health research.

The 2026 edition of the medal reflects the spirit of International Women’s Day and highlights the importance of recognising women’s leadership and excellence in science.

The Eijkman Medal honours the legacy of Christiaan Eijkman, the Dutch physician and researcher whose pioneering work on beriberi led to the discovery of the role of vitamins in health, for which he received the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1929.

The medal is awarded to researchers who are affiliated with or have close ties to a Dutch university or institution, and who carry out innovative and impactful research addressing major global health challenges, particularly those affecting low- and middle-income countries.

Deadline is Sunday, 22 February 2026 (5GMT).
