Sustainability at KIT

These are stories about challenges, choices and opportunities

KIT Royal Tropical Institute helps governments, NGOs and large companies to build inclusive and sustainable societies. We train young, promising professionals from all over the world and advise on sustainable development in almost every imaginable area. But how do we handle sustainability challenges that arise in our own building at the Mauritskade in Amsterdam?

We think it is important to be clear about our own journey towards sustainability. We are proud of the steps we have already taken, and of those to come.

That is why we are publishing stories about how we work on sustainability within our own organisation. How do we heat or cool our historic building in a sustainable way? What challenges do we encounter? What choices do we make when it comes to waste processing or purchasing for our cafe-restaurant De Tropen? This new series will highlight these stories and more.
