KIT welcomes Michel Farkas as its new CEO

We are very pleased to announce the appointment of Michel Farkas as the new Chief Executive Officer at KIT in Amsterdam. Michel will start on February 1, 2026.

Over more than 20 years, Michel has built extensive experience in both the humanitarian aid as well as the international development sector. In his different positions, he has been leading change and transition processes, bringing stability and financial sustainability to value-based organizations.

Michel started his career in the commercial sector, in human resources and management positions at KPN (Royal Dutch Telecom). In 2002, he moved to the humanitarian sector, working for Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) as Director of Resources. In 2011, he moved to SNV as the Managing Director of Global Support Services/CFO. In this position he was one of the driving forces in the transition SNV has made from an organization subsidized by the Dutch foreign ministry into an entirely project-financed international NGO.

From 2019 onwards, has been part of the Executive Board of Hivos: both as COO and (interim) CEO. Within Hivos (an international development organization that helps build social movements that strive for just, inclusive and sustainable societies), he has been responsible for improving business development, keeping oversight on program implementations and its risks as well as (financial and human) resources management.

Michel has university degrees in Law and History from the University of Utrecht and lives in Amsterdam.

The Supervisory Board warmly welcomes Michel as KIT’s new CEO and looks forward to a fruitful collaboration.
