Ten Things That Happened At KIT in 2022

Highlights from 2022

After almost two gruelling years dealing with the pandemic, we were ready to meet and share a space with our partners, peers and colleagues again – as research and education centre and a venue.

This year, we were able to contribute to discussions in conferences in-person and online. We forged some significant partnerships. We got together with our partners to co-host the first edition of our Power of Knowledge Symposium, where were questioned how the North-South paradigm shapes the flow of knowledge adversely. And at the event, we announced this year’s Eijkman medal winners.

We were also especially pleased to welcome our class of 2022-23 at KIT – 88 students from 30 countries – for the opening ceremony of their masters’ courses.

Many of our projects also drew global attention, like our projects on addressing gender inequality and child labour in cocoa value chains with Mars and Nestlé.

In 2022, we also we bid farewell to our CEO Mark Schneiders, who will retire after eight memorable years at KIT, and we look forward to welcoming the new year with our new CEO Henri van Eeghen.

Highlights below.
