Scholarships for KIT courses in Spring 2018: deadlines approaching!
Scholarships from Netherlands Fellowship Programme
For a large number of KIT courses in winter and spring 2018 there are scholarships available from the Netherlands Fellowship Programme (NFP).
Registration period NFP: 1 September – 27 October 2017
First apply to the course at KIT (apply before 10 October 2017, or check individual course deadline via links below)
Follow the links below for more information on each course and apply directly for your course of choice through our online application system. You have to apply separately for the NFP scholarship.
IMPORTANT: The NFP regulations for this upcoming deadline have changed. The number of countries eligible for an NFP scholarship has been reduced from 52 to 28 countries.
If you are from one of these 28 NFP countries you are strongly encouraged to apply for an NFP scholarship.

Courses on Health Systems Strengthening
- Qualitative Methods in Health Systems Research
Course dates: 23 January – 8 February 2018
This course discusses which methods to use to answer different health system research questions. You will gain experience in each step of the research process and develop your own research proposal. - Human Resources for Health
Course dates: 26 February – 9 March 2018
This course provides knowledge and skills that health care managers, policy makers and planners need for human resource management. It discusses strategies at country and workplace level to address health workforce issues. - Health Policy and Financing
Course dates: 14 – 30 May 2018
An in-depth look at important issues and current debates in health policy, health economics and health financing, taking into account the diverse profit and not for profit systems.
Courses on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, and HIV and AIDS
- Sexual and Reproductive health and Rights including HIV and AIDS
Course dates: 12 – 29 March 2018
This course explores key principles of SRHR practice across a range of content areas. It also explores key considerations for SRHR and HIV policy and practices. - Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights: Policy, Governance and Financing (blended course)
Course dates: 16 April – 4 May 2018
In this course participants become acquainted with the policy instruments, governance mechanisms and financial structures related to SRHR. - Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights: Organising Effective Responses
Course dates: 14 – 30 May 2018
This course builds on current evidence to critically identify and analyse responses across the health system, including emergency and fragile state settings. It also focuses on making services equitable accessible to marginalised groups and key populations.
Courses on Disease Management
- Control Strategies for Infectious and non-communicable diseases
Course dates: 16 April – 4 May 2018
In this course a number of communicable and non-communicable (NCD) diseases are used as models to demonstrate different aspects and principles of disease control. - Using Geographic Information Systems in disease control programs
Course dates: 25 June – 06 July 2018
The course gives an introduction to the use of GIS in disease control programmes and how it can be used for disease control, focusing on the epidemiological assessment of disease burden and the improvement of programmatic planning and management.

- Master in International Health (MIH)
Course dates: start dates 5 March 2018 or 10 September 2018. Fulltime or parttime option possible (1 up to 5 years)
The aim of the MIH is to develop the capacity of health professionals working at the interface of international organisations and national health systems. - Netherlands Course in Global Health and Tropical Medicine (NTC) (core course MIH or stand-alone course,)
Course dates: 10-3-2017, 3 months (given twice a year)
This course provides essential preperation for health professionals suchs as medical doctors, nurses and midwives planning to work in low and middle income countries. - Analysing Health Systems in Fragile and Conflict affected Environments
Course dates: 12 – 29 March 2018
This course provides participants with an approach to analyse disrupted health systems, both looking at key challenges as well as opportunities for addressing the main weeknesses. You will work with real life case studies. - Health Policy, Governance and Finance in Fragile and Conflict-affected Environments
Course dates: 9 April – 4 May 2018
In this course you will explore the complex fields of policy, financing and governance when rebuilding health sectors. - Rebuilding resilient Health Systems in Fragile and Conflict-affected Enrionments
Course dates: 14 – 30 May 2018
This course looks critically at what might be seen as best practices from a variety of fragile contexts, in order to equip participants with a set of practical tools to rebuild resilient health systems. - (E-learning) Rebuilding Disrupted Health Systems – developing context-specific strategies for health care policies, implementation and governance
