In the more than 20 years of studying and working in International Development, I have learned a lot about the power of individuals and collective action to contribute to positive change. Particularly in my years living in Nicaragua and the various programmes I managed as programme manager at Oxfam Novib I have gained valuable insights in the realities (young) women and men in the developing world face and the strategies they employ to claim their rights to access to quality health services.
The role of the private sector in health system change and consequent issues of inclusiveness have always fascinated me. At KIT I have the opportunity to support the team to build the evidence and knowledge base needed for long lasting and systemic change in health, brought about by all different stakeholders active in the field. As Head of the Health unit I aspire to connect our work to others and continuously explore new opportunities for partnership and innovation.
