Lucia Wegner is a KIT Associate Expert and Development and Macro Economist. She specialises in applied research on financial inclusion for women and youth, inclusive value chain development, and technical skills development for youth (self-) employment.
Lucia combines demonstrated research experience in providing comprehensive analysis and policy recommendations with her practical experience of private sector engagement and youth and women inclusion. She holds 15+ years of experience working on African economies. Lucia has worked for the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the African Development Bank (AfDB), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Oxfam Novib, the Centre for Development Innovation (CDI), the Italian Embassy in Hanoi, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), and private sector players (Cargill and Cardano Development).
At KIT, Lucia collaborates on research and implementation projects on youth and women’s financial inclusion with Development Finance Institutions such as the Dutch Development Bank (FMO) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC). She also works on youth employment and entrepreneurship (e.g. business models to promote youth (self-) employment in agriculture).
