Prisca Zwanikken, MD, M.Sc.CH, PhD is a senior specialist in international public health, human resources for health, curriculum development and accreditation. Currently Prisca is involved in capacity building and training programmes in Africa and Asia, for example, on sexual and reproductive health and rights as well as fragile settings.
She has extensive experience in developing and organising degree and short courses in public health, including quality assurance and e-learning modules. Prisca has significant experience in assisting ministries and national and local institutions to review and improve their curricula for different types of health workers and helps educational institutions to develop quality assurance mechanisms towards accreditation.
Her research focuses on public health education, quality assurance of education and educational approaches. Up until September 2017, Prisca headed up KIT’s health education team. She was programme director of KIT’s Master’s in Public Health, including the Sexual and Reproductive Health track, and of the Master’s in International Health. Prisca has worked for several years in the Philippines and Vietnam. She holds a degree in medicine from the University of Leiden, a master’s degree in Community Health from the University of Heidelberg, and a PhD from the University of Maastricht.
Prisca is a member of the Examination Committee of the Royal Tropical Institute as well as the Comité Pédagogique, Département d’Enseignement et de Recherche enSanté Publique et Spécialités (DERSP) of the Université des Sciences, des Techniques et des Technologies de Bamako, Bamako, Mali. She is also a member of Ethical Review Board of KIT Royal Tropical Institute.
