Shannon Mathew

Shannon (she/they) is a queer intersectional feminist and communications expert. Shannon has been working as an advocacy and communications specialist with non-profit organisations in India and the Netherlands since 2017.   

She focuses on the use of online spaces and digital technologies for public advocacy, with a specific focus on LGBTQIA+ inclusive sexual and reproduction health and rights (SRHR).

They joined KIT Royal Tropical Institute in 2023 as an SRHR advisor, with a focus on Bodily Autonomy and Integrity. Shannon is currently managing strategic external communications and content development as the Communications Officer for Share-Net International and Share-Net Netherlands – the global and Dutch knowledge platforms for SRHR, respectively.

Shannon received her BA (Hons) in History from St. Stephens College, University of Delhi, and MA Media, Culture, & Society from Erasmus University Rotterdam – both of which informed her research into the mis- and disinformation ecosystems in the Indian political communication sphere.
