Yme van den Berg


Yme has a strong track record in public health teaching and curriculum development, including e-learning, and is actively involved in many consultancy assignments around the world. 

Areas of particular focus include training needs assessments, training of trainers, urban health, and evaluation of public health. Since 1999, Yme has coordinated and taught a wide variety of modules of KIT’s International Course on Health and Development / Master of Public Health (ICHD/MPH), including health systems to specific disease control programmes, health financing, policy, planning, evaluation, urban health and epidemiology. 

Yme holds a medical degree from Groningen University; a qualification in tropical medicine from the Royal Tropical Institute; and a MPH from the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp.  He has extensive field experience: he has worked in Mozambique as a district medical officer and in Togo as a coordinator for health facilities and projects, in cooperation with NGOs. He was also chief technical adviser to the general director of public health in Guinea Bissau for seven years.
