KIT Royal Tropical Institute has a vacancy for an advisor in the health systems strengthening (HSS) team for 32-38 hours a week. The team consists of 13 multidisciplinary advisors that highly value team work, are commited to strengthen health systems for Universal Health Coverage, and have fun along the way! The job is based at KIT’s office in Amsterdam, with the option of working (partly) from home or remotely when necessary. The role also involves travelling for short assignments to different low and middle-income countries (LMICs). Our organisation’s working language is English. As our HSS portfolio is steadily expanding and we would like to continue to build our multidisciplinary team, we seek to recruit a junior advisor.

About you

Master’s degree in a relevant field, such as (international public) health or social sciences. Preferably also a degree in Medicine, with practical experience of working as a clinician in a resource-poor setting.

Maximum of three years of relevant working experience in HSS and public health, and demonstrated experience in working in LMICs and/or with international organizations.

Good understanding of health systems in LMIC.

Willingness and stamina to travel abroad regularly.

Positive and results-oriented attitude, ability to work with different disciplinary teams, passion and commitment, open personality and eager to learn and share learning.

Proficiency (spoken and written) in French will be an advantage.

A current valid residence and work permit to live and work in The Netherlands (it is the candidate’s responsibility to ensure they already have a work permit in Netherlands by the start of the contract).

We help to design and evaluate countries’ health-care models and strategies, taking into account a wide spectrum of aspects relating to quality of care, human resources for health, health financing and governance, monitoring and evaluation and epidemiology systems and approaches. True to our commitment to help underserved areas and populations, we have developed specific expertise in Health Systems in Fragile contexts.
