Where does our food come from? Amsterdam is full of food initiatives working on a more sustainable, healthier and fairer food system. The week long WeMakeTheCity event would not be complete without a place for these food innovators – We Feed the City!
Saturday’s food-festival includes a diverse line-up of the tastiest local, sustainable, green and exotic delicacies to stimulate your taste buds. Sunday there’s a Makers’ Market (full programme) dedicated to the food innovators, designers and entrepreneurs and their stories. And on Saturday and Sunday there will be a premiere of the film ‘Closing the Loop’ in the Queen Máxima Hall. The Saturday premiere includes an introduction from Prof. Dr. Wayne Visser at 12:00, and followed by the screening at 12:10 – 13:50.
We Feed the City also hosts the documentary screenings Gender in Coffee, in affiliation with the World of Coffee Conference and Exhibition. The film offers an intriguing and beautiful look at a crucial issue for agricultural women, their families and communities, and the entire coffee value chain. Carol Gribnau, Head of Programs, Hivos Green Society, will open the event taking place on Saturday 9:30-11.30hr.
In association with Amsterdamse Bodem, De Tropen café en restaurant, Food Council MRA, Slow Food Youth Netwerk Amsterdam (SFYN), de Voedselkaravaan van Voedsel Anders, IVN Amsterdam, ANMEC and the SDG House of KIT Royal Tropical Institute.
