Worldwide launch Share-Net

KIT houses the Knowledge Platform on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). The platform’s aim is to make a significant contribution to policy and programme development in the field of SRHR in developing countries. SRHR is a global issue and it is therefore essential to create a meeting place that can identify international needs. The Platform is membership-based and disseminates relevant information and provides a forum for networking and exchanging ideas, challenges and priorities related to SRHR issues.

Launch Share-Net Burundi

This fully integrated, collaborative online space encompasses national knowledge nodes in five countries. On 12 February 2015, Share-Net Burundi was officially launched. Share-Net Burundi, hosted by Population Media Center, invited all of the SRHR stakeholders in Burundi to the launch. Members of the Burundian government, CSO representatives, religious leaders, representatives from UNESCO, UNICEF and UNFPA, several INGOs and KIT gathered in Bujumbura to be informed and get involved in Share-Net and its activities. Maaike van Vliet (First Secretary of the Dutch Embassy) stressed the importance of Share-Net’s innovative approach in promoting knowledge sharing between different sectors in order to be able to address SRHR issues at all levels, with a particular focus on the youth agenda in Burundi.

Coming up: Bangladesh launch

Hosted by The Centre for Gender, Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights at the James P. Grant School of Public Health and RedOrange Media and Communications, Share-Net Bangladesh will also be officially launched on the 14th May in Dhaka.  Special guests at the launch will include Ms. Martine van Hoogstraten, Deputy Head of Mission and Head of Development Cooperation at the Dutch Embassy and the famous human rights campaigner and barrister Sara Hossain, Honorary Director of the Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust.

Following a successful scoping mission, it is expected that Share-Net Jordan will launch later on this year.
